What is the difference between mi casa and su casa?
I've been listening to some Shakira songs. Her song, Hips don't lie, Wyclef? said something about mi casa and su casa. do they mean the same? or just different.

mi casa : my house
su casa : his/ her house
in the song it is;
"Como se llama? Bonita, mi casa, su casa"
well i think it doesn't mean something special .... my house , her house
mi casa--the one I pay property taxes on
su casa-- the one I go to for a good meal....
What you heard in the song is probably the famous expression "Mi casa es su casa," which means "My house is your house". Hence, mi casa means my house, and su casa means your house said formally.
Haven't heard the song so this may be out of context but boy, it sure looks like someone is cutting to the chase!
What is your name? That's pretty! My house or yours?
Though in English, the line used to be:
My place or yours?
Mi casa...
...es mejor que Su casa.
When I was studying advanced Spanish in Mexico we used a very cool telenovela called 'De acá de este lado'. At one point in the story the hero, George, who is from Chicago, is invited in to someone's house with the words, "Please, come into your house". George is a little confused, as his Spanish isn't so good, and he says, "What, my house in Chicago? But we are here in Mexico CIty!" The point is, this saying, 'My house is your house', is ingrained enough that people in Mexico, at least of my generation, would actually say , "Please come in to your house". It speaks to how incredibly courteous and polite the people of Latin America can be.
