canasta vs cesta

Question

I only knew one word for basket and that was canasta. Then I came across the term cesta. I was looking around on other forums and some people say they mean the same and others say that canasta is a basket with two handles, whereas cesta is a basket with no handles. Is there any difference between these two words, or are they used interchangeably? Gracias de antemano.

They are basically the same. Just use cesto when talking about basketball, which is baloncesto.
