Una figura prominente,or simply prominente.Illuminador;lighting technician.could be used in a metaphorical sense.Una prominente, would apply more in a political,or social, whereas, illuminador, could apply in a scientific or academic more aptly.

Hebrews 6:20, which says "forerunner" in some English versions of the Bible, uses the word "precursor" in my Spanish-version New Testament, Nueva Version Internacional (NIV).

The context in which you wish to use "fore-runner" might help this discussion.

Gracias a todos. Ya le voy a poner Lider. No siempre se puede confiar en el diccionario para la mejor palabra. Hay que ver el contexto de lo demas.

Fore-runner in that instance means some who came before rather than lead,i think ie precursor, nuncio and such,I think batidor is more accurate,it means scout or beater[don't know if that means track beater or not

Melissa,
Not saying this is the BEST answer, but if you click on precursor, it says fore-runner.

I am fluent in Spanish but never heard of "precursor" in Spanish. I suppose the best thing is lider. I'm hoping someone knows a more slang term for it. Thanks, guys, for your help!

líder would be more if you were refering to the leader of the pack or race

more closely to fore-runner would be "precursor" masculine "precursora" feminine
