Just answering a question, this doubt popped up in my mind.

What's the correct way to say it: nobody care or nobody cares?

Guillermo

In general all regular verbs in the third person singular takes an "s".

I care, you care, he/she/it cares.

I run, you run, he/she/it runs.

Thanks Eddy. My confusion was more about "nobody" being considered singular or plural. - 00e657d4, Aug 2, 2010
I thought it strange that you were asking such a basic grammar question, hehe. - Eddy, Aug 3, 2010
Collins dictionary, nobody (singular), no bodies (plural). - Eddy, Aug 3, 2010

"Nobody cares" is correct because "Nobody" (Not one person) is singular. As Margaret has pointed out, it´s easier to conjugate using "No one cares" - Obviously Singular

Not really. I'm in Indiana and we have been in the upper 90's the last two weeks. Es más, el fin de semana del 24, volviendo de Nashville, el termómetro del auto llegó a marcar 38 grados. - 00e657d4, Aug 2, 2010
Wow, you estoy en el área metropolitana de Cincinnati, en Northern KY, y acá el calor también está insoportable. No provoca salir ni a la esquina. - LuisaGomezBartle, Aug 2, 2010

Yesterday, when I was driving to the library, I noticed several bank clocks that had the temperatures ranging from 101-105°F (38-41°C) - Izanoni1, Aug 2, 2010

In England, nobody cares, is the statement.

The question would be "anybody care"?

The answer is correct it would be more grammatically correct to ask Who cares? or Does anybody care? - FELIZ77, Aug 2, 2010
There are differences: nobody cares = a nadie le importa, who cares? = ¿a quién le importa?, does anybody care? = ¿le importa a alguien? o ¿a alguien le importa?... - LuisaGomezBartle, Aug 2, 2010
True, but the direct opposite of nobody cares would be anybody care? - fontanero, Aug 2, 2010
I would say: does anybody care? or, anybody cares? - LuisaGomezBartle, Aug 2, 2010
"anybody care" is condidered incorrect by grammatical purists though many people say it that way. - samdie, Aug 2, 2010
Samdie is right, people say it. - fontanero, Aug 2, 2010

Sheesh, so different, here we would say the whole thing: Does anyone care? Negative: Doesn't anyone care? The answer: No-one cares. Plural for sure.

Yes, same thing, with or without "does", nobody or no-one. - fontanero, Aug 2, 2010

This one is tricky! I have alway thought that 'Nobody cares' meant that there is not one single person in a group of people who would care. Well I am confused!
