That, this, those, these...

Question

I get confused with when to use este and esto, ese and eso, aquel and aquello.

I remember this saying. It helps but I do have to stop and think about it.

*This and these both have **T's** That and those no **T** goes But an **A** for away*

*- This and these both have **T's** -* Near or close to the speaker *This* = esta (f), este (m), esto (gender neutral) *These* (plural of this) = estas (f), estes (m), estos (gender neutral)

*- That and those no **T** goes -* Father away from the speaker than this or these *That* = esa (f), ese (m), eso (gender neutral) *Those* (plural of that) = esas (f), eses (m), esos (gender neutral)

*- But an **A** for away -* That or those over there which are farthest from the speaker *That over there* = aquel, aquella, aquello *Those over there* (plural) = aquellos, aquellas

esto : this eso : that aquel : that

But aquel a bit different than "eso" i think we might say that there are 3 level of distance. The nearest is esto , farther one eso , the farthest one aquel ...

ese : is used when you use it as an adjective. For example :

ese coche está en el garaje. = eso está en el garaje.
