Could I use "internado y seguimiento" for "internship and shadowing?

I have found "internship" to be a strange concept, at least to Guatemalans. The only translation that we could ever figure out when I was down there was "practica"...como escribió Maria-Clair.

The Word Ref dictionary gives these words:

internship ['?nt?:n??p] nombre prácticas, aprendizaje, pasantía

How about 'acompañando' for shadowing?
