Translation of Surnames
How would you translate the surname Camper to Spanish? I want to know if Richard Camper = Ricardo Acampado. Since some people have the surname Acampado, wouldn't it be the same as the surname Camper only translated? Or would it have a different meaning? I know some names don't or can't translate. Lets say Jorge Martinez came to America and wanted to Americanize his name, so now he calls himself George Martin, like John Castle = Juan Castillo.

Well I believe Camper would translate to Campista if you were to do so but why would you? My name is Gary, it is the name I was given at birth and my surname was handed down through the generations. While I could legally change it if I wanted I certainly wouldn't just because I moved to a Spanish speaking country anymore than a Spaniard should "Americanize" theirs.
