¿Qué quiere decir "Oye, Como Va?"

Question

Desde que era joven quiería saber que significa de las palabras " Oye Como VA" de Carlos Santana.

SInce i was young i always wanted to know the meaning of these words.

The words don't translate well, is there a more cultural meaning? Since it's from the era of the '60's it could mean a lot of things that may relate to the times.

Thanks.
