WElcome to the forum, chomper
We distinguish between female and masculine endings in Spanish, so you would say querida to a womand and querido to a man
it means: darling, sweetheart

Heidita discussed its meaning and usage as a masculine or feminine noun.
It can also be an adjective (dear) and show concordance with a noun. (querida+feminine noun; querido+masculine noun)
