Game: Regional Spelling Differences in English

Game: Regional Spelling Differences in English

Well I don't think that this game can go on for very long but I think that it is important for non-native English speakers to learn this. Some words in English are spelled/punctuated diffrently depending on if you are in the U.K. or the U.S. So the game is to post both spellings (label from which region) and the translation in Spanish. Example:

U.S. Mrs.

U.K. Mrs

(U.S. uses a period, U.K. doesn't.). This is not an alphabet game, so feel free to post any in any order. This is for spelling diffrences too, not just punctuation. :D HAVE FUN!!

Also, if you would like to post how other English speaking countries (Australia, Canada, ect.) spell things that would be great!

Great idea. There are probably other countries that should be included, such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, etc. - Nicole-B, Jul 26, 2010
In the UK, we should use a "full stop" after an abbreviation. - fontanero, Jul 27, 2010
I just fixed a wee typo -diffrences to differences :) - Kiwi-Girl, Jul 27, 2010
''Well I don't think that this game can go on for very long'' are you joking ? this game is such a great idea and it will last for a very long time ;-) - 00b6f46c, Jul 27, 2010

Lite is actually a misspelling of Light. We tend to use Lite when talking about diet/low calorie food and drinks. - spgeise, Jul 27, 2010
hi sp, well, that would be the same word though...light as luz and as ligero are both spelled light. - 00494d19, Jul 27, 2010

I never realized that! I always thought that 'learnt' was the way unlearned people spelled 'learned'. I apologize for my ignorance. - lkelly, Jul 26, 2010
jaja, I think it's the same concept as "spelt"! - amykay, Jul 26, 2010

I don't know that it's technically a spelling difference or if it's another word entirely, but I've seen this a lot:

US: While

UK: Whilst
