Hello, Vid, welcome to the Forum.

People in Latin America are given to making names up. Oftentimes it is a sound that they like, or a name made up from parts of the names of the child's parents, or a new spelling of a traditional name that they happen to find more appealing.

So it's not rare to find people named: "Yoni" or "Yonnis", a variation of John - Johnny, for example.

Norkys is one such name. I have no idea where or how it originated, but it does not mean anything in particular. It could very well come from the fusion of "Norberto" and "Belkys", for example - but that's just me speculating.

Yeah, agree with Gekkosan... My given name is Robert and in the US I go by Bob. But it is not uncommon for folks in Mexico to call me Beto...

Good luck...
