el and la are used infront of nouns. El is used when the noun is singular and masculine for example el huevo (which means egg) and when the noun is masculine and plural we use los and put "os" after the noun like los huevos...and la is for feminine nouns and the plural for la is las and we put "as" after the noun e.g la papa (which means potato)..which becomes las papas if plural...check out the video for lesson 1.3-food and articles.
