I have been trying to learn as well, didn't like the bbc site - There are a couple of books and dvd's I like so far. Spanish for Gringos (book and DVD) by Robert Harvey, Learning Spanish Like Crazy (DVD) and Madrigal (Book). They have all be very helpful - I am getting different things out of all of them.

wow everyone...thanks for all your answers. you are all awesome. (it was just a phrase i found on instant messaging that had me curious. i am sure these instant messaging programs take grammatical liberties so i'm not that concerned about it's precise translation at this point - what you all have given me will suffice). being newly retired, i've been thinking about learning something new and conversational spanish seems like it could be fun. i found a free online 'spanish steps' course by bbc.co.uk/languages that looks like a good intro. your comments and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I think he's not saying that you are a little damaged... I think there's a missing word after "rompe",, like "rompe corazones"... so he would be saying that you are a little "heart" breaker or something like that... but I'm pretty sure he's not saying that you are damaged...
