"Tengo que irlo a ver"?
I suggested an Ecuadorian friend see a movie that I really liked, and he responded:
"si tengo q irlo a ver, me dijeron q estaba buena"
This seems ungrammatical to me. I would have said:
"Si, tengo que ir a verla"
Am I being pedantic here?
Thanks, Andrew

Oh, I am seeing he used irlo a ver...and estaba buena![]()
Very strane, should be
ir a verla , era buena
No, silver, well observed, welcome to the forum![]()
it should be like you said, but you know....people tend to use shortened forms![]()
"si tengo q irlo a ver, me dijeron q estaba buena" Vs ( o ) "Si, tengo que ir a verla"
Well, your sentance is grammatically correct and that is how I also would have said it. However I am not sufficiently conversantt/familiar with all the nuances of colloquial speech to know if his construction is an acceptable variation of the norm
Hopefully, someone like Heidita, Gekkosan, Guillerrmo or Benz might be able to help us with this one ![]()
Lol Heidita I was probably writing my post at the same time as you
