Correos usually refers to mail, but in "peninsular spanish" the word may be taken to mean "postoffice"

peninsular spanish=castellano spoken in mainland Spain. In, for example, the Balearic Islands they refer to mainland Spain as La Peninsula

Hi Garry,

Welcome to the Forum.

I am not quite sure if you are asking a question or commenting on something that you have noticed?

I agree that in Spain, "los correos" can refer both to the post and to the post office, e.g. "Voy a los correos", "I'm going to the post office".
