It means archaism (archaic). In this context it means that the usage of the preposition a was commonly used in that fashion once upon a time, but has fallen out of everyday usage. I hope this helps.
In language, an archaism is the use of a form of speech or writing that is no longer current. This can either be done deliberately (to achieve a specific effect) or as part of a specific jargon (for example in law) or formula (for example in religious contexts).
Archaisms are most frequently encountered in poetry, law, science, technology, geography and ritual writing and speech.
"arcaísmo" = an ancient or old-fashioned word, phrase, or saying.
ohh gotcha. Wait so then how do I know what words/sayings/phrase are arcaísmo??
