Have the terms "hot" and "sexy" de same meaning or connotation?

My daughter used the term "hot" to refer a handsome boy. Is this correct? I thought that "hot" is a more "daring" term. I am Spanish speaker and I do not have idea about the certain idioms and uses in contexts. Thanks for you help.

Saludos, Mgarci. ¡Bienvenida!

:-) - Gekkosan, Jul 22, 2010

"Hot", "sexy" and "fine" are synonymous when referring to appearance. So, if she said that the boy was "hot", that is what she meant. I don't think "hot" is used for "daring" or at least, I have never heard this.

*Depending on who you ask, 'hot', 'sexy' and 'fine' have slight distinctions, but they still mean basically the same thing. - MeEncantanCarasSonrisas, Jul 22, 2010
@Meencanta: She didn't mean that "hot" means daring. She's worried that her daughter is being too bold by using that word. - Gekkosan, Jul 22, 2010
oopsies. - MeEncantanCarasSonrisas, Jul 22, 2010
In that case, no, it is not... It's a word that is used all the time. - MeEncantanCarasSonrisas, Jul 22, 2010
It isn't daring from a teengaers perspective but might be seen differently I suppose from the viewpoint of some parents - FELIZ77, Jul 22, 2010
