I want to make a sentense-> The reason why I couldn't go to class is I was sick. Which word I should pick? razón or motivo. What is the differences?

How about el porqué....? It covers both meanings.

The reason why = "La razón porque..". or "El motivo porque..." is the same in this phrase.
