What is "La Vida Estrambólica" (with an "L") ?

An event is being billed as "La Vida Estrambólica." I could not find - estrambólico / a - in the SpanishDict or Real Academia dictionary. But Google Translate defines it as "odd," same for estrambótico with a "t". Are both spellings correct?

Thanks. Here's the link to the event where the term is used: http://www.guadalupeculturalarts.org/exhibitions/essentials-vida.htm

The spelling with an "L" may be a Tejano regionalismo .

¿A cual de las dos palabras se refieres, Jorge? ¿Están correctas ambas? - chaparrito, Jul 21, 2010

Odd, crazy, out of bounds, etc. It's slang, so I guess it's not in the dictionary.

Pero, ¿hablas de "Estrambótica" o "estrambólica"? - chaparrito, Jul 21, 2010

So far, the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language does not recognize that word.

Welcome to the Forum, Parrandero! grin

The correct word is estrambótico (or estrambótica). It is possible that Google may have offered a "did you mean...?" option trying to guess about a typo.

I hope that helps, and we look forward to seeing you around! smile
