How was it? ¿Cómo fue? or ¿Cómo estuvo? The answer should be starting with ES---... like Es muy bien.

This sounds like part of a crossword puzzle or some other type of word game!

If the question has to be: ''How was it?'' (using the preterite past tense, either fue or estuvo, and not using the imperfect, either estaba or era)

And, if the answer has to begin with ''es'' that implies that the question must be:

¿Cómo estuvo? = How was it?

and the answer must be a past tense answer: Estuvo bien/mal. = It was bien (OK/alright/fine) or mal (bad) or some other appropriate adjective.

If the question were: ¿Cómo fue?

The answer would have to be: Fue bien/mal. (fue, of course, doesn't begin with ''es''.

I hope this helps!

depends on what you want to ask about, because either one can be used. If you wanted to know about his day, "como fue su dia?" if you wanted to know about a friend, "como estuvo su amigo?"
