Hi Anthony. Welcome to the forum. 
We use "la" for "the" and "una" for "a, an, one." Both are used for feminine nouns.
La mesa = the table
La muchacha = the girl
La naranja = the orange
Una mesa = a table
Una muchacha = a girl
Una naranja = An orange
