I did some counting in the book, but i don't understand the reasoning behind this here are the instructions El inventario escribamos/hablemos tienes que hacer un inventario de los articulos de ropa en la tienda donde trabajas. Usa el cuadro para decir cuantas cosas tienen. modeleo botas 22.336 tenemos vientidos mil, trescientos treinta y seis pares de botas

In the book it says that numbers have to change genders to the respective nouns. i understand how vientidos comes into the play, but i don't understand how trescientos doesn't change to trecientas

can you explain how this is right?

Could you provide an example? It is the hundreds that do show concordance. Oh, I get it. You mean why doesn't it change to feminine in your example sentence.

It is because the number modifies pares, a masculine noun. (22.336 pares)
