Does this mean: "they have invaded the web"?

It's the opening sentence of an article.

HI chica, it "can" not, it does mean that

The net / my conection crashed, the site crashed, my conection crashed...

se cayó la red, se cayó la web....

I agree w/ Luisa. I've also seen "Me caí" & "Me congelé" (in the context of being online) used when you want to say your internet got stuck or froze or when you can't connect to the internet.

So it can mean that a website got so many visitors it crashed?

Literally the term means the internet crashed "on them" (that's the "les") part. So it's like saying the internet crashed while they were online. - Deanski, Jul 1, 2010
