Can Tela mean window screen besides mosquitero?

Here in South Texas we call Window Screen una tela instead of Mosquitero, is this wrong calling tela window screen?

Mosquitero is a mosquito net...some kind of fabric that goes around the bed to keeps mosquitos out...tela means fabric...screen windows are made of screening fabric made of aluminum, fiberglass or other type of fiber mesh...so for window screen will be tela de metal

A common way to say "window screen" is "tela metálica (para ventanas).

I do not have an answer to your question, but I did not know that window screens are also called mosquiteros. I thought the name only applies to the net you place over and around the bed.
