If you want to describe early evening, not afternoon but not yet dark you could perhaps say "media tarde" as evening - seeing as la tarde can go from around 2pm until dark - if you say "media tarde" you show you mean the second or later part of the afternoon - ie. the early evening. ![]()

Y qué tal 'crepúsculo' = twilight. When I was a child in Northern Saskatchewan we had twilight til around 10:30 at night. It was lovely (in the summer of course)
What I would like to know is, what do Spanish speaking people use to describe the night between midnight and sunrise.
I have heard that "madrugada" can be used, although some people would say:
Son las dos de la mañana for 2AM.
Does anyone ever say this? :
Son las dos de la madrugada.
Muchas gracias![]()
I think some of my Mexican friends say, "en la tarde más tarde," for maybe between 7pm and dark. ![]()
In English English the evening starts at 6pm - irrespective of where the sun is.
In Bolivia they say "noche" as soon as the sun has gone down.
I have never heard "media tarde" here.
Sólo estoy desenterrando este post.
Estas son las equivalencias:
good morning> buenos días good afternon> buenas tardes good evening> buenas noches (al llegar) good night> buenas noches (al despedirse)
