Both the Spanish words caminar and andar mean walk. When is one used as to the other?

I know I am probably wrong...) But to me, the word "andar" is like to "walk to the destination" but "caminar is "You are actually walking at the destination".

Example: "Me gusta andar en la playa" I like to be at the beach, but you could be swimming, boating, surfing, etc.

"Me gusta caminar en la playa" I like to actually walk at the beach.
