how do you say/write a "time-out" given to a child for behavior
When a child receives a "time out" as a consequence for behavior

Welcome to the forum.
The phrase is "tiempo fuera", which is a direct translation from the English. If you do a web search under "tiempo fuera" you will get several hits in Spanish with suggestions on how to handle children's behavior.
I hope this has helped.
I say what translates as 'time alone,' "Tiempo Solo." Works!
I don't believe that translates well from English to Spanish - not sure if they use that concept. To take time out from doing something could just be 'descansar de algo' or 'descansar de hacer algo'. Not sure if that helps. (In sports a time out is 'tiempo muerto' but I wouldn't say that for school!
