What is the difference between the preterite and the imperfect. I know that they are both used as the past tence, but when is the preterate used instead of the imperfect and vice verca. Thank you. grin

Basically, the preterit is used for finished, completed actions. The imperfect is for on-going, descriptive, and habitual action.
