I can't think of the equivalent English expression, if there is one. But, a p....jo is a fool, an idiot.

So this expression "Amor de lejos...." means tha only fools engage in long-distance romantic relationships. Inevitably, at least one of the parties will get inlvolved with someone else nearby, while the distant parter ( the p...jo) sits alone pining for his or her not-so-faithful beloved.

It says basicly: Long-distance relationships are for idiots.

P.S. I would say that the last word is only partially there because the person didn't want to offend anyone. - alba3, Jun 15, 2010
Correct. It's a commonly used mild expletive. - Gekkosan, Jun 16, 2010
