This is a homework assignment and I would just like to check if all these sentences are correct. We were asked to write 10 sentences using various verbs and this is what I came up with:

  1. Yo ensñeo a los caballos. (I teach horses)
  2. Yo trabajo a Olive Garden. (I work at Olive Garden)
  3. él habla en español. (He speaks Spanish)
  4. Ellos comen galletas. (They eat cookies)
  5. Nosotras estudiamos para el examen. (They studied for the exam)
  6. Ella lee el libro. (She reads the book)
  7. Ustedes viven en Mexico. (They live in Mexico)
  8. Tu escribes una carta. (You write a letter)
  9. Ellas regresa de un viaje. (They return from a trip)
  10. Usted necesita para dejar .(They need to leave)

Thank you!

Unless your teacher told you to use subject pronouns (yo, él, ella) you don't need them because the conjugation of the verb tells you who does the action.

•Enseño los caballos. (I teach horses)

•Trabajo en Olive Garden. (I work at Olive Garden)

•Habla español. (He speaks Spanish)

•Comen galletas. (They eat cookies)

•Estudiamos para el examen. (We studied for the exam)

•Lee el libro. (She reads the book)

•Ustedes viven en Mexico. (You all live in Mexico)

•Escribes una carta. (You write a letter)

•Regresa de un viaje. (She returns from a trip)

•Usted necesita salir. (You (formal) need to leave)

Thank you! Yes, the professor asked us to use pronouns. If I am correct, they go before the verbs just as I had them in my first post? (Yo trabajo en Olive Garden, as an example?) - Daereon, Jun 14, 2010
How did you surmise which were correct...the Spanish or the English. I would have assumed that the English were given to be translated. How did you get "she" in the next to last from either the Spanish or English? "you all" from they, etc?. - 0074b507, Jun 14, 2010
Now you see why the subject pronouns are needed. To find errors in translation. - 0074b507, Jun 14, 2010
Marianne, shouldn't the second to the last one be "regresan" because he wrote "ellas" and "they"? - Rikko, Jun 14, 2010

HI , very nice post, welcome grin

Your teacher should not tell you to use subject pronouns as they are not used in Spanish, please read this thread, it will interest you.

However if you must use them, they are placed as you had them in your post, yes.

Thank you so much. It is odd that we are asked to use the pronouns, I understand the conjugation but I suppose she wants us to get used to the pronouns... - Daereon, Jun 14, 2010
