When (it) is masculine, the plural of it is los. When (it) is feminine, the plural is las.

Me gustan las tiendas porque ellas ...

'it' is 3rd person neuter pronoun (subject/direct object/indirect object pronoun) in English. In Spanish different words are used for each pronoun and most have a distinct masculine and feminine form (él/ella, lo/la, le). The plurals are obtained by adding an 's' (except for 'él' which becomes 'ellos').

Yes, singular is lo or la. Depending on the gender of course. :]
