I am trying to say the following:

If I had went to Costa Rica last summer, I would have had fun. I would have went surfing almost everyday. I think that while I was there I would have tried some new foods. I like trying to eat something I am not familiar with on almost every vacation. While there I would have enjoyed seeing dolphins and other wildlife that we don’t have here in Washington. I would have loved to go golfing at one of their golf courses. The views would have been amazing, something I would never forget. I bet that the weather would have been nicer than it is here. I would have loved to go bungee jumping and later try to go fishing. Last summer the fishing was great. They received some of their record fishes. Another thing that I would have loved to try was to go mountain biking. I could have went into town and bought some gifts for people back home. I know the food would have been awesome. I think it would have been cool to get a huge plate of authentic Costa Rican food and go sit on the beach and watch all the surfers. Later I would have come back and watched the sunset and surfers. I heard that they have really good sea diving. It would have been cool to see a sea turtle or other fish. I think that if I went I would have been taking picture during the whole trip. Having those memories would have been priceless.

What can I change in the following to make it more accurate?

Hello Monster. I'm curious: is English your native language? If not, could you tell us what is? - Gekkosan, Jun 12, 2010
English is my native language. THis is for spanish 1 so I try to keep it simple. Plus i'm a teenager who cannot spell. I know. - monsterrider24, Jun 12, 2010
Monster ... you need to work on your English grammar as well. "If I had gone to Costa Rica last summer ..." - waltico, Jun 13, 2010
It's past tense. - monsterrider24, Jun 13, 2010

I realize you are asking for Spanish help and I apologize, I can not help you there, at least not directly. I hope that in helping you with some English, it may help you to arrive at the Spanish you desire.

Gone and Went are part of the conjugation of To Go. Gone is the past participle and requires an auxiliary verb. "If I had gone to bed earlier," "I could have gone surfing."

Went is the past tense and does not use an auxiliary verb. "I could have went to bed" does not compute. "I go to sleep, I went to sleep, I have gone to sleep."

I suspect that is why Gekko asked about your native language and what Waltieco was pointing out. Oops, at least for starters.

You might also want to reconsider: "I would have loved to have gone golfing." It's a tense agreement thing.

But I like your story! I applaud your efforts, and I wish you luck!

You have been here for a while and have participated enough to see how the system works. May I suggest that you plug in some of the corrections, and maybe even delete your comment after Waltieco's post, to show that you are open to suggestions?

Either way, I wish you the best.
