Hello keiba. Please don't use 'text speak' here. Proper grammar and spelling are required because there are English learners here as well. Thanks! - Jack-OBrien, Jun 12, 2010

Without knowing how you want to use 'praise god', not sure.

The imperative (command)

  • Alabad a Dios (vosotros form)
  • Alabe a Dios (for usted form)

There are other variations of how to say 'praise god', for example "I praise God" or "you praise God" or "we praise God", each of which would be a different form of the verb.

Alabar is the verb used in Castillian Spanish I believe.meaning to praise God Alabar a Dios.= Praise God Yes, in my bible it says Alabadle = Praise him . - FELIZ77, Jun 12, 2010

"Gloria a Dios" es la expresión más común en mi iglesia. Literally, Glory to God. When spoken it sounds more like Gloria Dios with the merging of the a's into one sound. Forms of alabar are used in various songs. Most of the members are from Mexico or Columbia.

¿Elogiar es más común que Alabar? Gracias - Jack-OBrien, Jun 12, 2010
I think it is just a matter of which country. For me because I learned Spanish living in Mexico, Elogiar is more common. - 005faa61, Jun 12, 2010
Lo dos de Uds - Jack y tú - tienen razón: alabar y elogiar son correcto por eso daré el voto a los dos de uds - FELIZ77, Jun 12, 2010

At my church, when we say "Praise God" it is used as a type of greeting. Technically, it is a command to the other person, but in practice, it is a greeting. I doubt Spanish would use imperatives like this (I could be wrong), so I would tend to think canicos's suggestion to be more along the lines of what the poster was looking for.

Without context that would be impossible to know. - Jack-OBrien, Jun 12, 2010
