Sometimes I wonder what everyone is doing in addition to posting on spanishdict.I guess everyone has their peeves about precision in language.I am just hoping we can focus and follow the alphabet so posts do not have to be closed.

When they go out of order the challenge is lost

Obsessionally yours, Nizhoni

It is the precision in language that peeves me , I want to speak , not lecture in dialectics. - ray76, Jun 11, 2010
Look what you started :) - Yeser007, Jun 11, 2010
And it is in alphabetical order and in color! - nizhoni1, Jun 11, 2010

Lately I have seen the A-Z threads opened by somebody are not even followed by the owner of the thread at least to see if the order is respected.

I don't think we need a moderator for a one-word thread, but I do think the owner needs to look after their thread!

I closed one thread yesterday, completely out of hand, waiting for the owner to come back and see her moderate it herself. Nizhoni saw this happen, as it seems. so I got an angry note: hey, why did you close my thread and not others?

What am I supposed to do? Watch every single A-Z thread every day just in case the owner of the thread just leaves it to it? rolleyes

We did have a thread by Rikko before, if this continues, maybe we have to take more drastic measures.

Lately, however, there seems to be a number of these games where the originator starts it and seems to leave the thread into oblivion. Maybe they are actually watching over their threads, but since they don't make their presence felt, I end up feeling that perhaps their intentions are rather self-serving.

Actually , I thought the person was going to thank me for looking after her thread....wishful thinkingconfused

I agree with you Marrianne, but I find that there are times when the post gives me the wrong position of the letter , or by the time I have written it up I am way out of sink , I do not think that it is always done deliberately but that we are some times too fast for the site to correlate the information . Would there be some way that the posts could be shuffled around , or is that too technical , I am still a pen and ink man and am still struggling with this bizzo , but am loving it.

Ray, if you click the 'newest' button before making your answer it usually works well unless someone happens to be just a bit faster than you. - Yeser007, Jun 11, 2010
I do that but it does not always work especially when there are two or more pages to sift through. But I am also very slow. - ray76, Jun 11, 2010
I agree with you Ray ... I'm slow too - and if I link in a picture, well, 3 other folks will have posted by the time I'm done! - waltico, Jun 11, 2010
I am just thinking of the ones that look totally random. You can tell when it is a speed issue - nizhoni1, Jun 11, 2010

Chronological order is essential in the A-Z games, and like you say, it spoils the fun when people don't follow the rules.

Just copy my code and you too can make big, colorful letters. I got the style from Quentin. - --Mariana--, Jun 11, 2010

Wait a minute... shouldn't your answer start with "B"? And in Spanish? "Buen punto Nizhoni!" :-D - Gekkosan, Jun 11, 2010

M

.

My humble opinion is that we should start teaching people the alphabet and test them from time to time wink

Now that Heidi has spoken to those members who abandon their threads, maybe will get more cooperation.

Another thing that drives me crazy is when someone opens a game but puts no rules. I can usually get to those pretty quick and edit them, but some....grrrrrr.

Finally, it's not just Nizhoni who cares about keeping within the rules! Maybe we're all just a bit OCD. LOL

Maybe if we started the post with a big color letter it would keep us more easily on track?? - ray76, Jun 11, 2010
