A bumper sticker.

A bumper sticker.

I saw this today and it was such a profound statement I couldn't wait to share it with my friends here at SD

War does not decide who is right, only who is left. While it is obviously also a play on words, that aspect just does not translate into Spanish but the meaning was so completely true I had to bring it to the forum. I also felt that it would be a good idea for a thread so think about those clever bumper stickers (serious or funny) and let's see what we can compile.

One of my favorites..."If you can read this, thank a teacher". ("Si sabes leer esta (pegatina), agradece a un maestro")

Being a secondary teacher, I am beyond impressed with those teachers who teach children to read (and to sit still in class, to raise their hands, to write their names on their papers, to do basic math, etc.)

A big GRaCIAS! to all the elementary teachers out there! When graduation comes around, the secondary treachers seem to get all the recognition, but it's the pre-K and elementary teachers who lay the foundation.

Good one Yesero!

While the political play on words does not translate, the phrase does quite well, and is much more important than the play. Do you agree?

La guerra no decide quien tiene razón, sino quien queda vivo.

Great thread, Gary! That is pretty profound.

On a lighter note, I've always liked...

Where am I going, and why am I in this handbasket?

I like the one that says "Imagine Whirled Peas." (Imagine World Peace).

My mom's bumper stickers say "Obamanos!" and "I have friends in high places." She's a 60's flower child.

Mine says "Be the change you wish to see in the world" -- Ghandi
