I have read a lot of dictionaries including this site that say monte means woodlands!!! So Monte means woods?

Heres a official definiton from Real Academia Espanola: Tierra inculta cubierta con arboles, arbustos o matas

And is this picture a Monte or Bosque?

I don't know man, i'm born and raised in Spain where i lived until i was 33 and monte is mount and could mean woods as well depending on context and where you are. - julianPdC, Jun 10, 2010

Ok, "monte" means mount although if you say "me voy al monte" could mean i'm going in the woods if there are no mounts around. But monte refers to mount. Generally is about a small terrain elevation, not in the range of Mount Hood or Mount Logan which in Spanish woul be refered to as "montañas"

Yes, one of the definitions of "monte" means "woodlands."

As for your photo, it looks more like woodlands than forest.
