I would like to ask if Dreaming Paralysis is the correct translation for Parálisis del sueño. En mi opinión, se oye extraño. I think it sounds weird/odd. I am trying to explain to an american friend that I suffer from this. It is something that happens to me while I am about to go to sleep and suddenly I can't move, talk and my body starts to feel numb. It is very scary. Gracias.

It's called "sleep paralysis" and according to Stanford (http://www.stanford.edu/~dement/paralysis.html) it looks like what you've got specifically is called "hypnogogic sleep paralysis."

Hope this helps!

Yes, I would say that is the correct translation. Not that I am any sort of expert, only in that your explanation describes Dreaming Paralysis quite well. Though I think it is more common when awaking rather than falling asleep. Surely no fun either way.

jkrogue is correct. Hypnogogic sleep paralysis occurs while falling asleep Hypnopompic is the term to use when it occurs on waking. It is not necessarily abnormal, we are usually not aware of it.
