How do you say public awareness as used in this sentence: In what ways do you think the Parks and Recreation Department could create more awareness of our programs?

If I were the Parks and Recreation Dept, I would look for some easy, translatable way of saying, "make sure folk know about it" instead of using some pompous phrase like "public awareness". I apologize if you don't like me calling it pompous but then you are probably younger than me and less reactionary about phraseology like this.

In what ways do you think the Parks and Recreation Department could create more awareness of our programs?

"¿Como podría el Dep de Parques y Recreo asegurarse que la gente séa más consciente de nuestros programas?" Depending on your relationship with the aforesaid Dep, you may prefer asegurarnos. (Last word reads "a s e g u r a r n o s" even though in this font it looks like "a s e g u r a m o s")

Perhaps conocimiento público. Not sure if "del" is required but to me, that would give a meaning to be aware "of the" public and that is not the menaing you are looking for so I have left it out of the phrase.

Corrections welcome.

Actually....conciencia pública would also be a correct correlation to the phrase in English.

conocimiento is knowledge. - BellaMargarita, JUN 8, 2010
added conciencia as a probable better match to the English phrase. Thanks. - MexGuy, JUN 8, 2010
