El otro día se me perdieron las llaves.

I lost my keys the other day.

With this sentence I have a question. Please explain "se me perdieron?

"el otro día" is an expression meaning "the other day"; the verb is perder=to lose.

Taking sentences apart is a learning experience and I probably learn more doing this then just learning one word at a time.

This the construction used for unplanned/accidental occurrences. The keys are acting as the subject of the sentences here, but since it was you that lost them, or it was you that was affected by their being lost, "me" is the object.

Se me olvidaron las llaves. (I forgot the keys, but I didn't mean to!)

Se me rompió el vaso. (The glass broke. I was affected by it or I did it myself, but I didn't mean to!)

Se le perdió el boleto. (She lost the ticket on accident,)

Se te cayó el pelo. (Your hair fell out!)
