How do you say, "I caught her."

How do you say, "I caught her."

Here it is so far:

La semana pasada, rescaté mi hermana. Ella trepaba un árbol cuando se cayó.

Then I want to say, "But I caught her!" So would that be:

"Pero, se agarré!" or "Pero, le agarré!"

I'm mostly wondering about the "her" part of the sentence, but I'm also wondering about the verb. Is agarrar correct, or should I use coger?

Pero la agarré.

You caught who or what? Your sister (her). Therefore, your sister is the direct object of the sentence, and the direct object pronoun for my sister is la.

Regarding the verb, either one is correct. However I suggest you use agarré, because in some countries coger has a negative connotation.

La agarré = I caught her

****La**** is the direct object prounoun you need to use for her

The rest I am sure you can work out for yourself

Well done for trying to work it out yourself without help grin

Same thing as for maestra, it's a direct object pronoun. The indirect would be le. - maripositaxx, Jun 5, 2010
