At One With Nature
This is something I have never even heard of or seen before. This woman lives in a Hummingbird fly zone. As they migrated, about 20 of them were in her yard. She took the little red dish, filled it with sugar water and this is the result.
The woman is Abagail Alfano of Pine, Louisiana - she had been studying them daily and one morning put the cup from the feeder (with water in it) into her hand. Since they had gotten used to her standing by the feeder they came over to her hand.
She says in touching they are as light as a feather. Abagail also said, 'if she had known her husband was taking pictures she would have put on makeup.

New word of the day colibrí
I like the photos. There is a coffee shop just outside the entrance to Monte Verde National Park in Costa Rica that has about a dozen feeders or more and many different species of colibrí. If you hold the bottom of the feeder, some species of the colibrí will land on your fingers. I like putting my face close to the feeders and listening to the sound of their wings as they fly within inches of my ears.
Something to keep in mind with the colibrí feeders, the sugar water mixture will ferment because of the natural yeast from the birds tongue. Replace the water every week even a little alcohol is bad for the birds.

Such amazing little creatures! She's a lucky woman to have such a great experience. ![]()
I finally managed to get the picture of Abigail without her make up.
Those are the most amazing pictures. I adore hummingbirds and have always been able to attract them to a feeder but since I have moved (two summers now) they will not come to my feeder. I think because it is kind of windy (I'm at the mouth of a river) they just will not come. I just can't figure out where to put the feeder so they will be attracted to it. What a lucky lady to have that experience!
It is lucky hummingbirds are so small. They are very brave and fierce with each other.I have been very close but have never had one light on my finger like that. Cool.
