In Chile means ex sister-in-law. It's a jargon.

This question has been asked here before and at first my answer was ex-brother in law but after some research I believe that it also means (especially in Mexico) girlfriend or maybe even friend, pal or buddy.

I do not know if this applies everywhere, but I was told once by a lawyer that in-law relationships are never broken, not even by divorce. So cuñada or cuñado, and your suegros, always remain so, even if your partner is "ex".

Not that it makes any difference in practice, but I've always thought that's both weird and interesting.

Curiously, my wife at least gets along better with her first set of parents in law than with her current! grin

Yes, sometimes family members bond and a divorce between spouses doesn't change that. My brother's ex-wife is still a big part of our lives. - --Mariana--, Jun 4, 2010
my ex-brother-in-law is the one that's helping me settle here in Ecuador, I'm living in my ex-wife's house and my ex-mother-in-law is coming to visit me when she returns from the states. We are all still family...oh, y soy el padrino del bebe de mi ex. - 00813f2a, Jun 4, 2010

I've always wondered if you were still related to all of your nephews, nieces, etc. on your ex's side after divorce. My ex's family is still a big part of my life. Thank God they all live closer to me than she does. - 0074b507, Jun 4, 2010
In Spanish we can call to ex cuñis (ex cuñada) to the sister to my ex boyfriend, even when you want talk abaut the sister of your ex ex boyfriend (the boyfriend before the last one ) you can say ex ex cuñada, we do not need the law to call ours sister-in- - wirita, Jun 4, 2010
