I found this in a Spanish girl's blog while browsing through Google. Wouldn't this mean "I would prefer to stop living than die like this"? Aren't stop living and die the same thing? Gracias.

Yes, the phrase is rather silly. With the same meaning, one could say "Prefiero morirme de otra manera a morirme así." However, even that is rather odd. A more sensible/logical statement would be "Prefiero morirme a vivir así."
