I would suggest "una tarjeta de datos" or just "tarjeta de datos"

Thank you for you help. I just spoke with someone in the Spanish department and they said they use "tarjeta de connécion". - danrob79, Jun 2, 2010

¿Porque algo mas simple y efectivo, "una ficha"?

Why not someting simple and efective,

ficha feminine noun1. (index) card (tarjeta); file, record card (con detalles personales)

If your Spanish department says it's a "tarjeta de conexión", they either got the translation wrong or you got the wrong name for the device in English. A datacard by definition is a card that can contain data in a nonvolatile way. It is by no means a card to connect to something else. I would favor "tarjeta de datos" as the proper translation because I doubt you got the wrong name for the device in English.
