como se dice, my eyes are brown

Question

I used the blue Translation bar above and I got this result:

My eyes are brown = los ojos son marrones.

I know that's not right because I need a possessive adjective -- my.

Creo que "Los ojos son marrones" es correcto, porque cuando estas hablando sobre tu propio cuerpo no debes usar las palabras "mi" o "mis."

No debes usar "mi" o "mis" cuando usas un pronombre reflexivo como "me duelen los pies" o "me cepillo los dientes", o si usas algun verbo en primera persona como "Yo tengo los ojos marrones". De lo contrario es correcto usar el pronombre posesivo. - maestraC, May 31, 2010

If you say, "Tengo los ojos marrones" the verb indicates that you are speaking about yourself. (I have brown eyes.) I hear this more often than the construction with "ser."

If you are speaking about someone else, and the listener doesn't know whom you are speaking about, you could say, "Mario tiene los ojos etc...
