I googled the lyrics for the Rich Mullins song and there are a couple of translations for the first line:
Grandioso es nuestro Dios... (so "Awesome God" would be Dios Grandioso)
Mi Dios, poderoso es... (Dios Poderoso)
Another option is the above Dios Impresionante

Mi Dios es un Dios…and then you can add any adjective like poderoso, impresionante, imponente, majestuoso, etc.

"Awesome God"(!) =( ¡) Dios impresionante(! )
Awesome (as interjection !) = ¡ Impresionante !
Our God is an awesome God = "Nuestro Dios es un Dios impresionante"
