Ni idea = No tengo ni idea?

Can no tengo ni idea be shortened to ni idea and still be acceptable? I have heard it used this way a couple of times with the no tengo part. Gracias.

Yes. Just as in English you could say "I have no idea" or "No idea" in reply to a question.
