I think "no tome el agua" means don't drink the water, but I don't understand what tome means in this phrase, is it something like take a break from?

tomar = to take
no tome el agua = no take the water = don't drink the water
Spanish commonly uses "take" to mean "drink."

- No tome el agua can mean Don't take the (glass, bottle of) water.
- No se tome el agua means Don't drink the water.
