May be you mean:

¿Qué es esto? No lo sé.

This would mean "What is this?", and another person answering "I don't know"

Qué - What

es (3rd person singular form of "ser") - is

esto- this

No - no

lo- direct object for it

sé (first person singular of saber) - I know

The first sentence (the question) is pretty self-explanatory. For the response (No lo sé.): "No sé" means "I do not know". The "lo" part is referring specifically to the question, meaning "I do not know it", "it" being the answer to the question.

What this is, I do not know.

It's just a more colorful way of saying, "I don't know what this is."
