Groups Home Page?

I noticed in a posting from 2008 that there is (or maybe used to be!) a section in SD to find "groups". It sounded like there were groups of various kinds on SD. I've done a search for "groups" and only came up with an old posting. Does "groups" as a resource still exist on SD?
